House hearing on Benghazi 5-1-14

     The morning of May 1, 2014 brought a significant move forward in the Benghazi cover up. I feel comfortable now labeling it "Benghazi Gate". 

     The hearing began as you would expect with with Democrats patting themselves and Obama on the back and thanking the witnesses. Dr Wehrey presented a prepared statement on the general conditions in Lybia. As the hearing moved forward the questions became focused on Brigadier General Lovell USAF (Ret.) and his knowledge and involvement the night of the attack. 

     General Lovell was the Deputy Director for Intelligence Developement (J2). In short, he was the man responsible for gathering intell., communicating with the State Department and getting military assets responding. He was "The man in the room" and was in direct contact with the State Department. Some of the Q & A are as follows:

At about what time was the decision made that it was not a video and protest but an attack?

Gen Lovell ~ The decission to dismiss the video as the cause of the attack happened early in the evening of the September 11, 2014.

Rep. Chaffetz ~ Was it a video?

Gen. Lovell ~ "No sir"

When asked again to clarify whether or not they were sure about a video causing the attack;

Gen. Lovell ~ "Absolutely not a video"

Rep. Chaffetz ~ Why were available military assets not used?

Gen. Lovell ~ "We were waiting on what the State Department wanted".

Rep. Landford ~ Did we do what we could to save our people?

Gen. Lovell ~ "No"

Rep. Landford again asked the General, "Was it a video"

Gen. Lovell ~ "No"

Rep. Landford ~ Was there a lot of communication between J2 and the State Department?

Gen. Lovell ~ "Yes"

Rep. Landford ~ Were you getting clear leadership from State?

Gen Lovell ~ "They were looking for more"

When asked if he (Lovell) knew that there were video feeds coming from the consulate Gen. Lovell replied "No, I didn't know that". When asked what the State Department's role was, "The State Department was in the lead". 

Dr. Wehrey ~ while describing the general security situation in Lybia: The local militia provides security. "They're sort of a neighborhood watch".

     The early hours of the attack on September 11, 2012 were filled with communications between J2 and the State Department. J2 almost immediately knew it was not a spontaneous protest over a video. They communicated that to the State Department. When asked about whether or not the White House would have been informed about an attack of such a degree, the answer was Yes, they most certainly would have. To put this together is very simple.

     The attack was NOT a protest. General Lovell was in direct and constant contact with the State Department. Assets were not ordered to intervene. People were allowed to die. J2 was waiting for orders from the State Department that did not come. The White House knew the night of September 11, 2012 that the attack was not a protest, did nothing to help, lied about the video being the cause (repeatedly) and then covered that up. If this doesn't rise above the severity of "Water Gate" I don't know what will. 

     As for the General, the quotes I have used may seem to paint him as a patriot or whistle blower. Let me clear that up right now. General Lovell had to be pressed on many points. He was hesitant but honest. 

     As an American citizen and Navy Veteran, I demand that Congress Impeach Barrack H. Obama.
